Homeschooling both a preschooler and a kindergartner can sometimes be challenging because they aren't exactly learning the same things. However, I have been able to overlap themes enough that they are on coordinated schedules. This week, we are working on a Fall theme.
I started our fall themed week off with a mini-book. The mini book guides through all of the things that make Autumn what it is, with interactive and varied activities for the kids. They had a great time learning, coloring, following the leaf maze and more. You can get the mini-book here. We then watched a fun science explanation of fall by SciShow Kids.

The next day was all about apples. Our apple-themed Autumn activities included Math, Art and Science. We learned the parts of an apple, created our own apple art, dissected an apple and recorded our observations and lastly did some counting and matching worksheets to tie it all together. Get the apples activity pack, including art project, worksheets and science experiment right here.

For our lesson on Pumpkins, we by learning all about the life cycle and the parts of a pumpkin. After that, the kids got hands on with pumpkin science. We did measuring, sink or float, estimations and more. It was so fun! You can get the entire activity pack including science experiment and even a recipe for roasted pumpkin seeds, right here.

Some other really fun ideas for Autumn activities: go out for a nature walk. Talk about the changing leaves, the cooler temperature. You can collect leaves and then do a leaf tracing. Maybe you will see a squirrel collecting nuts. These are all great opportunities for learning about Fall that are memorable.
